Geological Assessment, Coalbed Methane Desorption, Well Site Management
Carol Butland has a Masters degree in geology from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand where she specialised in coalbed methane.
Her thesis, and subsequent international publication, was the first country-wide assessment of coalbed methane properties in New Zealand.
During her thesis she also acted as well-site geologist for a number of coalbed methane exploration wells for Solid Energy NZ Ltd. After her thesis,
Carol worked with Rio Tinto Exploration in Mongolia conducting field exploration activities for a number of commodities. As Senior Geologist with Arrow Energy International
Ltd she conducted green field coalbed methane assessments in China and Vietnam. Later, working with GeoGAS Ltd, Carol worked on gas drainage and greenhouse gas emissions projects
in Australia as well as international coalbed methane assessments (Indonesia). She is currently engaged in research leading to a PhD at the University of Western Australia (Perth),
characterising tight gas reservoirs in the South Perth Basin. Carol has a passion for unconventional reservoirs in strange and exotic places. firstname.lastname@example.org
