RYAN MORRIS

Hydrogeologist

Ryan is currently Director of RDMHydro, which provides hydrogeological advice to the mining and petroleum industry. He is also Senior Hydrogeologist at Origin Energy (since 2009) for its coal seam gas (CSG) and shale developments where he is responsible for all aspects of groundwater management and produced water management.

Ryan has extensive experience in the Surat, Bowen, Beetaloo, Murray, Otway, Gippsland and other basins in Australia. His expertise is in groundwater monitoring on a basin wide scale, but also in the understanding of small-scale hydraulics that influence well drainage. He has also been the principal scientist for re-injection of CSG co-produced waters into deeper aquifers. Ryan is also expert in stakeholder engagement, water chemistry characterisation, waterwell design and aquifer testing programs.

Previous to his roles in RDMHydro and Origin Energy, Ryan worked as a Senior Hydrogeologist in WorleyParsons Ltd in both Brisbane and Melbourne (2008-2010). From 2000 to 2008 he worked as an environmental scientist and hydrogeologist at Sinclair Knight Merz Ltd, first in the United Kingdom and then in Melbourne, Australia. Ryan started his career with Jeffares and Green Consulting Engineers in 1998 working in South Africa and Botswana.

Ryan has been a Registered Professional Geoscientist (Hydrogeology), Australian Institute of Geoscientists since 2011. He is also a member of the International Association of Hydrogeologists, Australian Institute of Geoscientists and the National Groundwater Association. Ryan regularly gives presentations at professional conferences, clients and stakeholders.
